Body
Protector
We insist on
clients wearing body protectors for jumping. Body protectors
provide protection to the upper body in the event of a fall and
reduce the risk of serious injury. They cost from around £70.00
or can be hired from us for £1.50.

Upper
Body
Upper
body clothing should not be too loose or flap, however it should
allow sufficient movement of the arms and body. Warm
waterproof clothing should be worn in the winter months as riding in
the indoor school cannot be guaranteed.

Riding
Hat
This
is one of the most important items of safety clothing for riding.
A riding hat should conform to the current British Standards of BS
EN 1384 or PAS 015. They are available in either a traditional
velvet style or the skull cap style and can be purchased from us for
£37.00. Alternatively, should you wish, we do have hats
available for hire at £1.00 per session.

Gloves
Gloves
are important to provide protection and also for warmth.
Without gloves you may find that your hands become rubbed from
holding the reins. It is best to wear gloves specifically
designed for riding as they provide grip where required.

Lower
Body
Ideally
jodhpurs or breeches should be worn for riding, however, leggings or
similar items of clothing will suffice provided that they prove
comfortable whilst riding. Footwear is important and again
ideally riding boots should be worn, long or short, although sturdy
boots with little or no tread and a small heel should prove
adequate.
